The RF radio receiver that picks up the key fob for the central locking and immobiliser on the Discovery 2 is a common component to fail now. They sit in the roof, just in front of the rear sunroof, and inevitably get damp over time. They simply corrode until they fail.
These are a simple replacement, although you'll need to code the new part in to match your keys.
